So, we welcome back the “Hell-dwellers”!! I don’t really tend to actually dislike other teams -like I’m supposed to – but I definitely don’t actually like Galatasaray. The more pressing issue tonight though is putting last year’s exit behind us. I personally don’t like being a Champions League punching bag.
Defence aside, although things are improving with the return of Jonny Evans, we’re without doubt much stronger than last year and hopefully a good solid start to the campaign will see us right. I know very little about Galatasaray apart from they’ve got Elmander and some other vaguely familiar lesser names on their team sheet, so if we’re taking this seriously we shouldn’t have too much trouble – as if it EVER works out like that.
I have no idea what team Fergie will put out (ad infinitum). I imagine we’ll have two up top, probably Van Persie and – hopefully for me – Danny, but really there’s not much point in speculating. Either way the victory at home is imperative.
It’s a shame none of today’s squad can really recall with any genuine emotion those scenes from the nineties to give them that bit of extra incentive. Maybe Giggsy can share a few stories…
Goals: Van Persie, Evra (to shut up Buttner)
