United 3-1 Chelsea

I knew I should have gone with a 3-1 predicton…everyone it seems on Twitter was thinking the same.

It was a strange game. Someone recently said and I agree that actually it’s often the silly games that are more entertaining than the quality ones.

Both teams showed their undoubted quality in patches but the games excitement for me came about from the numerous mistakes from both sides. It’s no exaggeration to say that Chelski could have been the ones going in at half time up. Chelski were certainly winning the midfield battle as Ando had a frustrating game to forget and Fletch still struggles for match sharpness. Also, (pardon the cliche) although these things do even themselves out over the season, our first two goals were offside so very fortunate to count. It seems that I’m usualy going spare in this fixture when the decision goes the other way (the title decider where Drogba scored from an offside position a couple of seasons ago springs to mind).

Phil Jones appears to be growing into an absolute bargain (of all time), Ashley Young (the elder) has settled in like he’s been a United player all his life. De Gea is looking more assured too. Berba showed his class when he came on. Nani is starting to finally look like the player he always promised to be. Personally I think Jonny Evans who stayed solid throughout was our best player through the 90.

It’s nice that Rooney can have a bit of an off day against Chelski and we can still win.

Man of the Match: Evans
