Here we are at last.  The defining match of our pitiful season, 2-0 down to arguably the weakest team left in the Champions League.  I say “arguably” simply because that’s the done thing and I can’t bring myself to say that actually we’re the weakest team left.  Unarguably.

We all know Moyes won’t get fired if we don’t qualify, but we’ve all got our fingers, toes and eyes crossed in hope.  Or desperation.  Or stupidity.  Pick one.  Lose this opportunity to progress and our season is over (Pah! Like it wasn’t bloody weeks ago).  Somehow overturn a two goal deficit and NOT let one in (double pah!) and we’ll be granted the briefest stay of executions until the next round where we’ll get pasted by Metalist Kharkiv or whichever crap team Zlatan’s playing for now.

Prediction: Seeing as I remember the last time we overturned a Champions League deficit when we beat the Romans 7-1 (despite everything they’ve ever done for us), I’m in a super positive mood.  Shinji will have the game of his life replacing the cup-tied Mata, setting up Rooney and Robin for a brace each, before adding the coup de grâce of a hat-trick himself in the last five minutes of extra time.  1-0 Olympiakos.

I thought it was a bit mean of the conspirators at the press association to photoshop out the candy floss clouds, rainbows and lemonade rivers from them latest training photos.

Put this date in the diary 24.03.2014, my birthday. Oh, whoops! sorry, how did that get in there?! I mean put this date in the diary: 19.03.2014. The day Moyes turned it all around day. It’s just like that game off of the Fergie era; and the omens are all there…

We perhaps might have thought we had an outside chance of winning a cup this season – if nothing else. Embarrassingly, we went out of the League Cup, and on account of us playing some of the worst football witnessed in the whole combined history of football we find ourselves almost at the wrong end of the top division going into this cup game. Olympiacos will have no problem dealing with us (unless something fairly dramatic happens); even though they’re hardly pulling up trees (from a “forest” – keep up) themselves.

I can’t wait to see us start with Ashley “Ashley Young” Young, who has been far from electric on the left, forever. Even if he gets in a typically ‘Sparky’ cross, (that’s actually a mis-hit shot), Olympiacos wouldn’t really need to Mark Robin’s run into the box, because the way he’s playing he couldn’t score with a side-foot finish, volley, or a stooping header … or whatever he attempted?
