France 1 – 1 England

I don’t usually predict draws when doing this for United (only wins), but thought I’d buck the trend for England and the Euros … and well, it’s not United is it (in fact, can’t remember a time when we were so under-represented in an England squad)?

I think the team almost picks itself: Hart, Cole, Terry, Lescott, Johnson, Gerrard, Parker, Walcott, Milner, Young, Welbeck.

A lot of the talk has been about whether Carroll or Welbeck start and I think it still could be either at this stage. I personally think Welbeck starting and using Carroll as an impact substitute makes more sense for this game.

I’d prefer Martin Kelly or Phil Jones over Glen Johnson, but I’d probably prefer Jack Butland over Johnson. I’m not a fan. I’d also prefer Jagielka over Terry. I’m not entirely convinced Terry is fit. Playing players who aren’t fit has a habit of backfiring, but let’s hope it doesn’t. While were at it, I’d also rather Walcott wasn’t our number 7, but at least he has the occasional potential to be a match winner.

I think we will be hard to beat and I’m a big fan of Roy, so even though I don’t think we’ll set the tournament on fire, I’m really looking forward to seeing how we get on.

If you’re not excited about the big tournaments, then I think you’re missing the point.

Goal: Danny, if he’s to have a good tournament, he needs a goal to help him settle.
