And without Danny. Arsenal should really consider themselves very very very very very very lucky.
Phil ‘Jonesy’ Jones takes a lot of credit from this game, and rightly so – he was really strong, in both midfield and defence (I’m really luke-warming to the idea of him in midfield). Evans too. But also crucial, I think, was the performances of the sometime, somewhat maligned Michael Carrick, Tony and Patrice. All three were on it (whatever it is) from the first touch.
There’s still a decision to be made on whether to allow Kags to play centrally more often. He and Rooney alternated in patches to reasonable effect, which was encouraging, but, I s’pose there’s still no guarantee Rooney won’t make that for us in January. Was that a double negative? I mean’t he might be off, still.
RVP was business-like and Rooney’s form continued. I still think he’s got at least three more gears to shift up, before we kickstart the lauding that was kickstarted weeks ago. I do likes a head’n’shoulder goal. I dunno?
Moyes had mislaid those meaty stabilisers attached to his body props, but has now commenced the discovery of them.
(It’s weird how themes stick. This months is head injuries. I have nothing to say on it. Just observing and sharing thought nuggets.)
