United 2 – 1 Liverpool

Was never in doubt was it? I got a text from Rob, my Liverpool supporting mate, asking, “Hold on. how u gunna come back from a winning position?”…

It’s always nice to beat the baddies and it’s even nicer when you deserve it, not as if deserving it is integral to the better football narratives – it’s nice nonetheless. In RVP we’ve got a proper match winning player, of the kind – with Rooney’s “issues” – we haven’t had since Ronaldo.  Liverpool are still building, and our building project is further on and so there was only going to be one winner. Next season things might be different.

Danny did his best imitation of himself, TV started to show a little bit more when he came on and things have been much worse elsewhere (on the pitch). All in all we did what we needed to do and sometimes that’s all you need to do (do-do-be-do?!). Like I said in my pre-match thingy-me-bob I don’t enjoy this fixture much anymore, so just glad to have got it out the way relatively unscathed.
