Seems a lot of people are referring to this game in terms of what happened last time round – remembering Giggsy’s goal and the result, and perhaps forgetting how poor we were for the other ninety-something minutes, only saved by some amazing goalkeeping from De Gea. All Giggsy sentiment aside (he was pretty poor that day too), I really wouldn’t want to wish for a repeat.
Norwich are a mildly different beast this season, – probably not as strong – but still (as we learned against Villa) “there are no easy games” is a cliche with good reason. Chris Hughton (is it possible to dislike him? – discounting Mike Ashley) has started implementing his plans and superimposing them on to the side he inherited off Paul Lambert, and G-Unit has woken from his summer slumber. Personally though, I don’t have the same niggling feeling as last week.
Rooneys potential “absence due to injury” should see Chicha get a much deserved start (as Fergie strongly suggested last week – although who knows?!), and so with our two top onion-bag busters on the field we can be confident we have the firepower to out score them.
Would be happier with Jonny back, but the more games Smalling gets, the better he gets, right? Right!
That was quite sensible for me (yuck).
