Sweet dreams are made of these, who am I to disagree? I’ve travelled the world and the seven seas. Everybody’s looking for something. Amirite? The season can end now.
The game was almost everything we were expecting: Swansea providing a proper challenge; no-one match sharp (some loose passing in defence, we could have done without, but hey, first day and all). BUT I didn’t expect RvP to be on it quite so soon. He’s a bit good inny?! I DID expect Danny to be that guy – I think he’s going to be it and a bit this season – but even though I did predict it, I couldn’t really have ever predicted he’d score two – and how!
Encouraging signs from Tony (I’ve said that before), great vision and execution for Danny’s first. Patrice continues to amaze (and sometimes forget where he is). Cleverley needs games and to trust his left foot more – they’re only short passes, so why he has to always use his right is frustrating. My left when I played, was a redundant prop but I could still pass distances of ten yards and under. Sort it aaat. Other than that, I’m a big fan of T-ClevZ, so long as the affectations that are sneaking in are kept to a minimum, he’ll be some player; I’m sure of it.
I can’t really talk about the game without mentioning Rooney … oh wait, yes I can.
With a miniscule amount of that weight of expectation having lifted, Moyes’ furrowed brow already appears less so and that’s the best bit about the result for me (apart from Danny’s goal, obvs).
