Can Becks take us back to the short term future?

Okay, you’re all gonna think I’m a few studs short of a Nigel De Jong tackle and in all fairness that is true a large percentage of the time…BUT wait…

He’s free. He’s literally free. He’s something different. He’s still a match winner. He’s still creative. He still has career ambitions. He’s old but Giggsy is older. He’s a massive revenue stream for the club (if that’s the sort of thing that does it for you). He will give the whole club such a massive lift. He’d be committed to the club, No, he LOVES the club!

I know all the arguments against it (but you can remind me in the comments bit if you like). Can we genuinly say that we have currently got anyone in the squad at this moment in time who can provide what Becks can? In short no.

SAF has almost as good as said we can’t get the players we want until the summer. So what do we stand to lose in giving Becks a short term contract, or pay-as-you-play deal until then? The answer is nothing. Everyone’s a winner.

BRING BECKS BACK, YES?

YES!

  1. I expected hundreds of comments. I totally agree. Those games where we just don’t seem to have that creative player who can unlock the opponents’ defense. In the past few games where we thankfully are still winning by the odd goal, we did not look particularly fluid. It’s so frustrating to see Nani and others take corner kicks and can’t beat the first man. We are completely toothless when it comes to free kicks. It’s a little frustrating watching our midfield struggle and look at the bench to find Gibson or Park as an option. The argument against him being old is simply not true. He won’t be brought in to start games, but rather finish them, or if he starts, he won’t finish them.

I say bring him back, let him go out on a high, let us have that option in the 70th minute, let us get excited about corner kicks and free kicks again.

  2. I don’t know why Rooney doesn’t take all the free kicks to be honest? He obviously the best dead ball player at the club – as we can see from some of his equisite long passes when playing in midfield.

As for Becks I would love to see him back at Old Trafford :-) When he played against us for Milan a couple of seasons back, simply the ovation he got from the crowd was all the proof needed that he can make a difference to our club.

Come on Sir Alex give United fans the Christmas present we’re all wishing for!
